Elections for state officers will be held on Saturday, April 7th in Frederickburg, Virginia! All current Virginia NOW members may vote in this election (this includes those who join at the state conference on April 7th). We conduct our elections with in-person voting; we do not use email or phone voting.
Officers to be elected are state president, state executive vice-president and state legislative vice-president (position descriptions below). To run for these positions, you must be a member for three or more years (or have the recommendation of a state officer or chapter officer). Those wishing to be a candidate may announce their candidacy at the conference as well as before at http://vanow.org/contact/positions-and-openings
Special guest speakers include Ellie Smeal and Alice Cohen – the icons of the ERA Movement and officers of the Feminist Majority.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided.

Officers to be elected
President – Serve as a spokesperson for VA NOW on all matters except those under the Legislative VP, appoint members of VA NOW committees and state council, preside over meetings with VA NOW and state council, resolve conflicts, and foster communication across state chapters.
Executive Vice President – Assist the President in operation of the state organization, manage state meetings, caucuses, and conferences, and assume the responsibilities of the President if the President becomes unable to perform them.
Legislative Vice President – Represent women’s legal rights and VA NOW’s legislative interests to the Virginia General Assembly. Travel to Richmond during the annual legislative session and promote all of VA NOW’s desired bill additions/changes to the Virginia House and Senate. Manage the organization’s relationship with policymakers, government officials, and allied advocates.
